在香港開始學術之路，於柏林取得博士學位，其後在台北從事博士後研究，楊德立博士最近回到香港中文大學哲學系。

他的研究融合歐洲與亞洲哲學思想脈絡，聚焦探索想像力如何塑造自我與社群。他在中央研究院中國文哲研究所的博士後計畫，以其於海德格學會研究系列出版的博士論文為基礎，探討《想像與虛靈的主體性：跨文化哲學人類學初探》此一主題。

學術之外，楊博士具有報導新聞、主持哲學清談節目、推廣海外投資等多方面公共及行政經驗。他亦是YouTube 頻道《School of Somewhere (SOS)》創辦人，致力讓更多受眾接觸哲學和人文思想。

籃球、游泳、馬拉松等愛好，不單為他的藝術創作提供動能，也讓他保持為家人、愛貓拉麵（Lami）帶來溫暖和幸福所需的能量。
