The Department of Philosophy at CUHK is the biggest philosophy program in Hong Kong. It is pluralistic, with equal strengths in analytic, Chinese and continental philosophy. The Department now invites applications for a substantiable-track assistant professorship or associate professorship with substantiation, full professor will be accepted in exceptional cases. AOS: Chinese philosophy. AOC: Open.

Recruitment of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – (250000X8)

The Department of Philosophy is hiring lecturer(s)/senior lecturer(s). Applicants should have (i) a higher degree (a doctoral degree for Senior Lecturer rank; a Master’s degree or above for Lecturer rank) in philosophy; (ii) teaching experiences in tertiary education; and (iii) competence in feminism and other areas that would complement the existing strengths in the department. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses as selected from the Department’s curriculum in general education courses and courses of the philosophy major program.

Duties include (a) teaching 7 sections (including multiple sections of the same courses) a year and (b) assisting in administrative work in the Department, College, Faculty, and University. While research output is not required in the annual assessment, the successful candidate is encouraged to conduct research, especially in the areas of their teaching assignments. The appointment will initially be made on a contract basis for two years commencing January 2026, renewable subject to mutual agreement.  Salary will be highly competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Department now invites applications for a non-tenure track position as Research Assistant Professor in Continental and Comparative philosophy. Candidates are expected to have expertise in the philosophical theories of Kant, Humboldt, Husserl, and Heidegger as well as in the philosophical dimensions of the Chinese language and script.
