Admission Requirement

1. Have a MPhil degree in Philosophy or a related field from a recognized university
2. Have sufficient knowledge of general logic
3. Submit a thesis proposal of about 4 pages
4. Submit a paper (10-15 pages for English, or 10,000-15,000 words for Chinese) on a topic in philosophy
5. Attend an interview (shortlisted applicants)

1. Have a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy or a related field from a recognized university
2. Have sufficient knowledge of general logic
3. Submit a self-statement (about 2,000 words, in either Chinese or English) stating their academic interests, and the methodology and topic of their proposed research
4. Submit a paper (8-12 pages for English, or 6,000-10,000 words for Chinese) on a topic in philosophy
5. Attend an interview (shortlisted applicants)

Remarks on submission of supporting documents for applications of research Programmes:

Official transcripts

Starting from the 2021-22 intake, scanned copies of the latest official academic transcripts with official chop from the Registry or Office responsible for handling student records is accepted for issuing the admission offers. However, documents printed from the system or any other documents without a proper letterhead and an official chop will not be accepted. Besides, there should be explanatory notes printed / attached to the transcript indicating the grading scheme of the University.

Admitted students are required to submit original copies of those official documents for verification by the conditions fulfillment deadline.

Original valid official score report of TOEFL and IELTSshould be sent directly to our office from the test organizations
Recommendation Lettersshould be sent directly to our office from the referees
All other documents (sample paper, research proposal…etc.)email them to us via this email address: divphil@cuhk.edu.hk. It is not necessary to submit documents in hard copy to our office.
